An outside biopsy of this lesion was signed out as INVASIVE, POORLY DIFFERENTIATED SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA ARISING FROM PAPILLARY TUMOR. Subsequent left maxillectomy and nasal septectomy with left modified radical neck dissection (lymph node levels 1-4) showed a small focus of residual carcinoma in the maxilla (associated with granulation tissue, thought to be the original biopsy site) as well as tumor involvement in level one and two lymph nodes (high power pictured). No bone, cartilage, or soft tissue involvement was noted. Any thoughts? More to follow.... |
